El Dia de los Muertos

For el dia de los muertos, or in other woerds the day of the dead, we studied its mexican leniage. In hispanic counties, the day of the dead is to celebrate the life and death of former loved ones. At night is when its mostly celebrated with candles and fires around the gravesites and cooked meals to share with others. Everything was pretty much new to me when we learned about it, for the only thing i knew about it was the skeleton figures. Even that, i had no clue for what they really meant. I think it was quiet amazing especially for how long its been celebrated for. There wasn't anything i didn't like about it! We don't quiet have a holiday as similar to their like this. We do though hold funerals and rememberances on a years passing every year or so. The week of the day of the dead, we make candy skulls. In mexico they make and sale these for decoration. they are made from surgar and water. When hardened, they are shaped or carved. After that they are decorated. You can use icings and candy. Some people use other things to decorate it with so it's or of a figurine to look at but mot eat. I enjoyed making my candy skull. It was fun to mix and prepare for decoration. I used green, red, and orange icing to decorate my skull for el dia de los muertos. I cant wait for next year to roll around so i can make more candy skulls!
